Projects

VELOCIPEDE
A sort of mock Victorian poster for
a bicycle, mixing period ads with some
George Melies iconography.

WINDJAMMER
Logo for the Devon based progressive folk
trio, that I sing and play percussion in.

BEER FESTIVAL LOGO
Design for the 37th annual
Norwich Beer Festival.
Does exactly what it
says on the tin.

DEVON AND CORNWALL
BEARD AND MOUSTACHE
CHAMPIONSHIPS
All the branding for this annual
event. Lots of fun!

ASK THE JAWAS
Having fun with the
little gun-totin' chaps.

BIG APPLE
Newspaper cartoon
sample, ol' Zilly up
to his old tricks.

BYRON IN BED
A middle-aged man trapped inside
the body of an eight year old boy
...it gets messy!

CHUCK & CHAZ
Play on words, if you
hadn't gathered.

150 MAP COVER
I was contacted to create a map for Plymouth University's
150th anniversary and this was the front (and back) cover.
The back is populated by famous and influential people
from Plymouth's history, partying in front of the iconic
Roland Levinsky building.

 150 MAP INTERIOR
...And this was the map of the campus, along with
the trees they planted to commemorate the anniversary,
and some of the building's name sakes.

AMERICAN CRIME
A poster I did for a film series,
trying to channel a bit of a Drew Struzan
vibe in the ol' layout.

MAKING WAVES
I was recently commissioned
to design and paint two sunfish
sculptures for a public art trail in and
around Plymouth, the two I came up
with were based on Plymouth's maritime
history, a 'Pilgrim Father' and a
'Jolly Jack Tar'
WOOLWORTHS WINDOW
When the big Woolworths in Plymouth shut down,
the council contacted me and some other illustrators
to create some artwork for the unused windows.
We took some famous and important people with links to the
city and I took Sir Arthur Conan Doyle and a soldier
of the English Civil War for my contribution.

NOSEY PARKER
The first page of a children's book I've been
working on for a couple of years now. Started
life as an idea at University in Plymouth.

150 BOOK COVER
This is the cover of a book I did recently for Plymouth University
to celebrate their 150th anniversary as a higher education institution.

150 CHARACTERS
These are the two students that the reader follows through
the book, they are called Trish and Mitch.

SIOUX BANNER
Progessive work for a banner to accompany the
small press comic book I provided artwork with last year.
The 'Shooting Gallery' comic in the comics section
was written by the same author as those with this
character in, the Sioux Warrior.

ORDERS OF THE DAYE 1.
A cartoon for the Sealed Knot quarterly magazine. A little
subversion of the commonly referred to 'Roundhead' and 'Cavalier' shtick,
that doesn't hold much historical water fact fans!

ORDERS OF THE DAYE 2.
The next cartoon was an attempt to further the humour into a historical
context. Using the ol' Cromwellian quip as the basis for a doodle.

REPENTING
This is a book illustration I did for a collection of short stories a year or two ago.
This was for a story called 'Repenting', by New Orleans based Michael J. Lee.
The story reminded me of early X-Files, the one shot shockers
that really got the blood pumping.

COLOURING BOOK
Like it says above, this was for a colouring book so I tried to stay away
from too much line and no tone at all. It started from a picture
of a viking I had already done, but as the book was quite
wide I added a little opponent. Looking back, it
reminds me of that scene from Mel Brooks'
'Robin Hood: Men In Tights'.
FATHER CHRISTMAS
This is my design for a Christmas card I sold last year, a fairly easy to grasp
design of Santa having a little trouble getting his trousers on after
twelve months of curry and lagers. The idea being that for the
rest of the year, he doesn't much care for December 25th.
