Sketch Book

DC SUBMISSION
New talent search for the
mighty DC Comics
(Detective Comics Comics!?)
featuring Harley Quinn tryin'
t'top hersen', silly girl

ROBYN HODE
Aborted project based on the
medieval ballad 'A Lyttell Geste
of Robyn Hode'

ACORN DWARF
This sketch became the base for
a character I used during the Plymouth
International Book Festival's 24 hour comic,
about three men in a pub, telling tall tales.

THE UNUSUAL SUSPECTS
Here is a coloured pencil sketch of Bats
and the gang. I quite like Catwoman, as I can't
think of an interpretation of her like this that I've
seen before, and considering how many bloody
incarnations she's had, I'm slightly chuffed with that.

SONTARAN
A little study of one of the best known villains from the great canon of
Doctor Who baddies. The Sontarans are killing machines, Daleks
with jacket potatoes for heads instead of pepper pots.
This Sontaran warrior bears a striking
resemlence to Judge Dredd.

SWAMP THING
This was a pencil study that I green-ified in Photoshop. Not really anything
to do with anything, just had been reading some Alan Moore.
The shoulders and neck were based on a gorilla.
FAR-OUT SOFA
An idea for the surfing superhero who you can see more of on the ILLUSTRATION
page. This was the first sketch I did where the board 'talked'. It wasn't
actually my intention when I started it, but it just seemed
to want to come out, so who was I to argue.
FRED DIBNAH
A pencil study, a bit of a show off piece really,
having a rare go at portraiture.
CROSS HATCH SKETCH
After looking at a lot of Italian comic books,
I was very keen to give intense cross hatching a go,
don't know who he is or what he's doing, but there he is.
